Celebrate with us in this wonderful gala on the occasion of International Dance Day, we are waiting for you this April 24 at 6:00 pm at Miramar Cultural Center, more than 80 students participating and 13 professional dancers on stage.

On the occasion of the celebration of International Dance Day, the Cuban School of Ballet, under the general direction of Iliana Ricardo, in collaboration with our artistic director Daniel Sarabia, academic direction of Alberto Terrero and the support of teachers Liliana Fagoaga, Iliana Cázarez and Valeria Cázarez, is pleased to present to you our first Gala performance!

The Ballet Paquita, with libretto by Paul Foucher, choreography by Joseph Mazilier and music by Édouard Delvedez, was premiered on April 1, 1846 at the Paris Opera.
Petipa, being already Director of the Mariinsky Theatre Ballet, commissioned Ludwig Minkus, official composer of the Imperial Theatres, a new music to add a brilliant “divertissement” to the final scene of Mazilier’s Paquita.
In this ballet, which recreates the Spain of the Napoleonic invasion, Petipa shows us his masterful command of the classical language, where the bravura of the variations and the majesty of the adagios rival each other.
This new choreographic piece passes to posterity, exhibiting all the possibilities of virtuosity, enriched by combinations full of suggestion and destined to the total showcasing of the artists.
